Our menu changes with the seasons and we do our best to source and support local farmers, fisherman and businesses whenever possible. Some of these local businesses are: Morning Dew Farm, Riverside Butcher, Pemaquid Oyster Co., Mill Cove Lobster Pound, Fisherman’s Catch, Morse’s Sauerkraut, John’s Bay Oyster, Mook’s Oyster Farm, Oyster Creek oyster farm, Clark’s Farm and Round Top Ice Cream. While we do not have a certified Gluten-Free or Vegan kitchen, we offer a variety of items that are prepared with those standards. Seafood comes in 7 days a week in season and 6 days a week in the winter, so it is always fresh. We prepare all of our dishes to order and from scratch. In true pub fashion, you will find a wide variety of flavors and cuisines at the Newcastle Publick House; we strive to do them all well.

Nightly Dinner Menu

Our Chef works closely with our purveyors on a daily basis to ensure that we have the best variety and quality of local seafood, meat and produce to create our Nightly Dinner Menu. This menu provides our Chef with the opportunity to work with the absolute best product in the most creative way possible. Of course we have some of our signature entrees on the regular menu for both lunch and dinner. All of our desserts are made in house and they change with the season. We like chocolate quite a bit and local berry pies. Our ice cream comes from Round Top because its really good ice cream.


The Newcastle Publick House has 20 taps in the Pub and 6-9 upstairs in the Oysterhead Lounge. We pride ourselves on having a great selection from small independent breweries in Maine as well as from away. Our local customers appreciate that we build our beer list based on what we consider great beer and not just what summer ale “Chad” thinks we should have. Maine Crab Cakes – Hand-picked Maine crabmeat with low country spices, griddled and served with citrus aioli. 13

House Wings – Wings tossed in our house buffalo sauce or Thai sweet-spicy chile glaze; served with a blue cheese or buttermilk herb dipping sauce. 11

Warmed Brie – Velvety melted brie with honey and toasted almonds served with our cranberry-orange preserve, sliced Granny Smith apple, and toasted baguette. 10

Stacked Smoked Pork Nachos – House-fried corn tortilla chips topped with an aged cheddar jalapeno blend, house smoked pork, pickled jalapenos, shredded lettuce, onions, and tomato; served with our house salsa and seasoned crema. 14

Angry Al’s Oysters – Four jumbo Damariscotta River oysters baked golden with bacon, spinach, gorgonzola, hot sauce. 16

The Carnivore – Garlic oil, house red sauce, & our cheese blend, piled high with hamburger, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and bacon with a hint of crushed red pepper. 15

The Publick Burger – All natural Maine Curtis Custom Meats ground beef char-grilled, topped with sharp cheddar and smoky maple-black pepper bacon on brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. 14

Grilled Chicken Sandwich – Char-grilled chicken breast on a brioche bun with our herbed pub cheese & roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. 13

Haddock Rachel – Light ale battered, panko crumb fried fresh haddock, thousand island dressing, cole slaw, & Swiss cheese on grilled marble rye. 14

Haddock Sandwich – Light ale battered, panko fried or blackened topped with cheddar cheese; served with traditional tartar sauce, lemon, and pickle. 14

Turkey Sandwich-fresh oven roasted breast sliced and served on grilled sourdough with melted brie, roasted red peppers, shaved red onion, tomatoes, and greens with honey mustard. 13

Reuben – Grilled shaved corned beef piled high with Morse’s sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island on grilled marbled rye. 14

Pulled Pork Sandwich – Our slow smoked pulled pork tossed in our house BBQ sauce topped with cole slaw and served on a grilled brioche roll. 13

Shepherd’s Pie – New Zealand lamb shanks slow braised in a Jameson’s Irish Whiskey and Guinness gravy, carrots, celery, & onions, topped with garlic whipped potatoes and Cabot cheddar cheese. Served with organic mixed green salad. 22
